Adams & Uffelman is the legacy of a partnership that began in 1952, when James B. Castles and Albert R. Musick combined their Portland law practices to form Castles & Musick. This early stage of the firm played an important role in the City of Beaverton’s economy, where a small electronics firm called Tektronix was assembling oscilloscopes from a garage on the east side of Portland, and was subsequently incorporated by Castles.
In 1961, Robert E. Thompson and Rodney C. Adams, graduates of Willamette University College of Law, joined the firm, which moved to Canyon Road and the new partnership was named Casles, Musick, Thompson & Adams. Three years later, Castles left the firm to become Secretary and General Counsel of Tektronix, while Musick was appointed Washington County Circuit Court Judge.
