John E. Uffelman

John Uffelman is an experienced attorney with a record of success and a practice built upon personal and professional referrals. He works closely with his clients to provide a calm, friendly and assertive environment within which to address a wide range of legal issues. He specializes in catastrophic injury, wrongful death, wills, trusts & estates, and probate matters.

John grew up in Oregon. He attended Gonzaga University and earned his Bachelor of Arts in 1970. He was admitted to the University of Oregon, School of Law in Eugene and graduated in 1973.

Upon his admission to the bar in 1973, John began a private practice in The Dalles, Oregon and, after two years moved to the Portland area. He served for seven years as a Deputy District Attorney in Washington County prosecuting major felony and homicide cases.

In 1982, John established a private legal practice in Washington County and served clients in the Portland metropolitan area. He has handled a wide range of civil matters and trials, including personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, business securities, insurance fraud, wills, trusts and estates. John also maintained an expertise in criminal defense matters and was lead attorney in the defense of several death penalty matters.

He is admitted to practice in Oregon and Washington State courts as well as the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco, California, and The United States Supreme Court in Washington DC.

John’s life outside of law has included community involvement and volunteer activities including Outward Bound, Gonzaga University, St. Pius X School and Parish, Sunset High School, Jesuit High School and the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO).

Today, he and his wife of more than 38 years focus their volunteer activities around family. Their four children are alumni of the United States Air Force Academy, Santa Clara University, University of Notre Dame and Gonzaga University.
